Dispose of Assets

There are several factors to consider when disposing an asset.

Within the GIS environment the feature representing the asset may be removed entirely from the layer and optionally copied to an archive layer, or it may remain in the layer and be flagged as disposed.

Within Assetic, the asset is first decommissioned, and then optionally disposed.  Asset disposal affects the financial register and involves financial processes within Assetic to ensure it is correctly handled.  Active work orders and other active work flows also need to be considered before an asset is disposed.  for this reason it is more appropriate for the disposal to be undertaken within Assetic on a per asset basis rather than via an integration process initiated via an external application.

When an asset is flagged as disposed (or deleted/archived) within the GIS, the integration process will decommission the asset within Assetic, but not perform a disposal.  Dashboard reports within Assetic flag the decommissioned assets allowing the finalisation of asset disposal to occur within Assetic.
